Dehydrated apple roses are a great make ahead garnish and can be stored for ages in an airtight container.
By ages I mean at least a few weeks. Start by thinly slicing apples with a vegetable peeler or mandolin.
Align like so and place in an oven on low (I use 80 Degrees Celsius fan bake) for 10-15minutes.
After 10-15 minutes the apples should become malleable (bendy) enough to roll. Make sure you roll tightly!
Once rolled secure with a toothpick(s) so it doesn’t fall apart when you let go.
Open up the ‘petals’ using your fingers if the rose looks too closed up. Place back in the oven until fully dehydrated. You can use a dehydrator for this whole process if you have one.
I haven’t done so in this photo but you can remove the toothpick (s) at this stage. The apple rose should be very stable once dehydrated.
